Human Nature

jellyfish

I am a human being
With an asymmetrical life
I am a mystery and a history
A past perplexing and future vexing
Like jello in an ocean
Or flaky skin without lotion
I am wanting of a sensible index
Organized lines at the back of the text
Like those of a plant cell or school bell
Grant me radial symmetry of a Golgi body
Decipher my way through this labyrinthian story
This biological allegory

If I could fit into a sonnet
That had my name on it
In some elemental nomenclature
I could center myself with the nature
of being a human being
